Road Improvements (Updated 1/24/2024)

The ALPO Board has surveyed the state of all platted roads within Ashe Lake, and have formulated a plan that considers road status as well as traffic volume.  We have contracted with Wolverine Excavation to focus on areas of significant problems; work is scheduled to be ongoing thru October.  Thru-traffic will be maintained, however delays may be unavoidable and will be minimized.

The 1st phase (now completed) included portions of:

Lakeside Dr. and lower Pritchard Dr.

Chestnut Dr. at intersection of Holiday Ln.

Holiday Ln. at intersection of Lakeside Dr.

Dawnview Dr.

2nd phase (now completed) included portions of
Chestnut Dr.
Monticello Dr.
Freedom Trail.
Lakeside, above dam, both sides.

3rd phase (now completed) included portions of:

Holiday Ln.

Lakeside at Ashe Dr.

Lakeside culverts to be flushed.

Pritchard Dr at Ravenwood Dr.

Dawnview Dr at Beaver Creek Dr.

Dawnview Dr.

Gate spread of 12 loads rock to fill holes from waterfall to dam.

(Scheduled for June 2024 - now completed).

We realize that the roads are a priority for all homeowners.  Road maintenance and up-keep is an ongoing issue with our old roads that are not paved, and scheduling of work is at the mercy of our unpredictable mountain weather. We believe that the current capital improvement plan will minimize requirements for ongoing road maintenance and will benefit all of Ashe Lake in the long run.  Thank you for your patience with our progress.

Please contact ALPO at 336-649-6226, or ashelakepoa@gmail.com with your concerns, and to advise of any emergency road issues.

Expanded Parking at Lake Dock

New signs have arrived and they have been installed  to allow for more vehicles. This area will be cleared in the upcoming weeks and an additional two parking spaces created.  That will make a total of 6 parking spaces for use of the Lake!

Beaver Dams & Activity

We have contracted with a beaver trapper and he is working on removing the beavers from the areas where they are causing the most damage.  If you see beaver activity or damage please let us know so we can pass it on.

Picnic Table Relocation

The arms on the exiting kayak racks have been extended to better accommodate larger kayaks. We ask that if you store your kayak at the Community racks that you make sure the kayaks are off the road so as to not be an obstruction to traffic.  Thank you Joe Livingston!  Completed 7/1/2023.

Picnic Table Relocation

Picnic Table Relocation

We've relocated one of our picnic tables down to the dam.  This new spot is a favorite of fishermen and picnickers alike.  Enjoy some of the best views of the Lake.  Thank you Mike! Completed 8/2/23

Tree Removal

Picnic Table Relocation

Tree Removal

All this rain caused some tree damage - but our president was right on it and removed this tree from Lakeside and Pritchard.  Thanks Joe! Completed 8/4/23

Lights at Community Dock

Solar Lights have been installed at the community dock.  This allows for paddlers to see the dock in the dark, and safely come ashore.  Thank you Bibi! Completed 8/8/23.

come have a picnic with us!

This picnic table located right by the community dock, was donated by Annie Smith (long time Ashe Lake resident and advocate) in memory of Mr. Smith.  We sincerely thank Annie for this donation to our community.  It is often used.

This concrete table and benches were donated by  the Perry family.  Thank you for your donation.  This table is the perfect spot to enjoy coffee or lunch while taking in the great views of Ashe Lake.

This picnic table was generously donated by Bill Morris.  Thank you Bill for your kind donation.  This spot is much loved by fishermen and picnickers alike.
